The impact of bankruptcy on you and your family can be tremendous. It is important to consider the alternatives to bankruptcy at an early stage. Our bankruptcy team will help you decide which option is best for you and suits your circumstances.
An Individual Voluntary Arrangement (an IVA) is a formal agreement with your creditors to repay all or a proportion of your debts through a structured payment plan over a fixed period. An IVA can be used as a mechanism to avoid bankruptcy.
If you have been made bankrupt it may not be too late to propose an IVA. You can still propose an IVA to your creditors up to one year after being made bankrupt. You must act quickly. If creditors accept your proposal then you can proceed to apply to the court to annul your Bankruptcy Order.
Our bankruptcy team can advise you whether an IVA is appropriate to you. If your circumstances are suitable for an IVA we can talk you through each stage so you know exactly what is happening.
