A toddler, aged 3, was attacked at a village family pub near Chesterfield by a Japanese Atika. The boy, aged 3, was mauled by the dog, which took a 4 inch chunk out of his face and broke his eye socket.
A toddler, aged 3, was attacked at a village family pub near Chesterfield by a Japanese Atika. The boy, aged 3, was mauled by the dog, which took a 4 inch chunk out of his face and broke his eye socket.
The wound stretches from his left ear to his mouth, and required 100 stitches. The child could be scarred for life. It is not yet known whether he suffered any nerve damage. The damage was so severe the boy had to be transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital to receive treatment.
The attack has greatly affected the 3 year old, he is now quiet and reserved. His previous love for dogs has vanished as he is now terrified to even hear a dog bark.
The breed of dog that attacked the boy, a Japanese Atika, is not considered dangerous under the Dangerous Dogs Act, but there have been a number of attacks by the breed including two children and one adult in the last two years.
