Further Education: further uncertainty

We ran a HR roundtable event in December 2015 for HR Directors in the Further Education sector.

It’s hard to have missed how hard this sector has been hit with funding cuts. Constant fluctuation in student numbers in recent years contributes to the cycle of restructure and efficiency measures.

Yet our HR Director clients and contacts remain optimistic that they can deliver an engaged and efficient workforce in difficult times.

Though the Government’s area-based reviews of post-16 education and training institutions continues to create uncertainty and unsettle staff, HR departments battle on to deliver reduced people costs and better productivity.

But where will it all end?

Well, first of all with the results of the area-based review process. Recommendations for colleges to merge? Or, as rumour has it, primary legislation to force consolidation as has happened elsewhere?

Certainly HR practitioners in the FE sector can expect to deal with ongoing change. And one thing is certain – further uncertainty in further education.

If you’re an HR Director / Manager from a further education provider and you’d like to attend our next roundtable event on Wednesday 18 May 2016 please click here for details.
