Actons Supports Blooming Businesses

A team of lawyers from Actons have advised two Urban Planters franchisees on acquisitions.

The two deals involved acquisitions by Newman’s Plants and The Palfreymans – both Urban Planters franchisees operating under the Urban Planters brand.

Newman’s Plants is a family-owned business providing horticultural services across Chelmsford, Cambridge and London. The business sought funding to acquire Contemporary Plant Designs, another franchisee of Urban Planters Franchise in West London based in Hounslow, on the retirement of the current owners. Its managing director is Duncan Newman.

Headquartered in Matlock, The Palfreymans has been trading since 1996 providing plant displays, landscaping, grounds maintenance and green walls throughout Derbyshire. The business secured funding for the acquisition of Paul Lomax, again also a franchisee of Urban Planters, operating across the North West of England. Tom Palfreyman is the managing director.

The acquisitions were overseen by the Corporate team at Actons, led by corporate lawyer and Director Simon Dakin and Associate Tom Butcher.

Simon Dakin added: “We were delighted to help both Duncan and Tom achieve their goals of growing their already successful businesses and expanding their geographical reach. I look forward to seeing their businesses go from strength to strength.”
