New Family Law Team at Actons

Actons, the leading independent law firm in Nottingham, has appointed two experienced family lawyers in a new Family Law team.

Julie McCrery joins as the new Head of Family Law at Actons and is joined by Associate Sophie Spreckley.

Julie and Sophie, previously at Knights and Fraser Brown, have well established reputations for Family Law in Nottingham and the East Midlands.  They are members of Resolution, an organisation committed to resolving family disputes in a constructive way that considers the needs of the whole family.

The Family team advise on all aspects of Family Law for married and unmarried couples whether this relates to financial, property or children related issues.  This not only includes guiding individuals through relationship breakdowns but also encompasses advising on and preparation of nuptial and cohabitation agreements and proactive protection of family wealth and succession planning.  With a focus on mid to high net worth clients, the team advise on a range of financial matters including those that may be complex or require immediate action.

Simon Dakin, Chairman at Actons, commented: “The appointment of Julie and Sophie is a real coup for Actons. It marks an exciting milestone as we further strengthen our ability to provide clients with high-quality Family Law advice following the recent retirement of Mike Spencer. I’m delighted to welcome them both and look forward to seeing them continue to develop a strong Family Law team at Actons.”

“Over the past 18 months, we’ve worked hard to recruit some high calibre people to the firm who are looking for an opportunity to be part of something increasingly unique in the local market – and we’re very keen for that trend to continue”.

Julie McCrery, Head of Family Law at Actons, added: “I’m thrilled to join Actons. Along with Sophie, we’re looking forward to growing the firm’s Family Law offering and our profile in the marketplace not just in Nottingham but also further afield.   I was attracted to join Actons by the opportunity to grow the department and also to join a firm where I admired their culture and enviable position in the local market. It’s also really nice to work with some previous colleagues who have themselves found a great home at Actons.”
